Recommendations

While the Kit Bambu Lab significantly reduces ultrafine particles and VOC concentrations—up to 4 times less in our tests—it’s important to note that high-emission filaments (ABA, ASA, Nylon, PETG, PC) can still produce considerable levels of pollutants.

To ensure a safer printing environment, we recommend:

  1. Ventilating the Room: Operate your 3D printer in a well-ventilated area to further reduce particle and VOC buildup.
  2. Using Low-Emission Filaments: Opt for filaments with lower emission profiles whenever possible.
  3. Monitoring Air Quality: Consider using an air quality sensor to track indoor pollutant levels and adjust ventilation as needed.
  4. Placing the Printer Strategically: Keep the printer in a dedicated space, away from living areas or places where prolonged exposure to emissions could occur.

FAQ

1. So that’s very clearly a fan inlet/outlet on the front of the device. How is this recirculating air?

The chamber fan typically stops when printing with ASA or ABS to maintain stable chamber temperatures, which are necessary for these high-temperature filaments. However, with the Alveo3D kit, the fan integrated continues to extract and recirculate air within the chamber, helping to keep the temperature elevated for optimal printing. The kit also includes an exhaust hatch that efficiently expels air, making it ideal for filaments like PLA or PETG that don’t require high temperatures.

2. Why does the kit extract air from the area where the waste filament exits? Doesn’t that interfere with the process?

The waste filament is collected inside the second part of the kit, which includes a tube that recirculates the hot air. While some cleanup is necessary to remove the accumulated waste plastic, the system ensures it is effectively managed. The BambuLab kit is specifically designed to provide maximum protection for users without requiring any structural modifications or enclosing the machine
