Bambu Lab A1 Printer Component Safety Issue

We want to inform our readers and 3D printing community about a recent safety concern reported for the Bambu Lab A1 3D printer, specifically affecting some older units.

What Happened

Multiple reports from owners and independent sources, including Reddit discussions and media outlets like All3DP, videos on Youtube have shown that certain older Bambu Lab A1 printers can experience overheating and melting of internal components, particularly the NTC thermistor on the AC power distribution board.

While no confirmed fires have been reported, users have noticed:

  • Burnt or melted plastic near the AC board

  • Strong burnt-plastic smells during operation

  • Frozen prints or sudden printer shutdowns

These incidents appear to be rare and affect older machines produced before design revisions.

Bambu Lab Response

Bambu Lab has acknowledged the reports and stated:

  • The risk exists but is rare and uncommon.

  • Newer A1 units have a redesigned AC board, which eliminates the problematic component.

  • Affected units are eligible for replacement or repair through official support channels.
